When it is constantly running, it seems to work to reduce odors. But it must cycle on and off, because about half the time my refrigerator smells like garlic and onions. Baking soda worked much better. I just tried this to avoid changing the baking soda and in case it did actually help produce life. I saw it reviewed on the Today Show.
