Honeywell HFD-100 Tower HEPA Air Purifier

This does a good job of cleaning the air. I breath better with it. That is the most important thing, right?

I bought two, *but my wife turns the one in the living room off when she gets up before dawn*. I have to remember to turn it back on. Low or high speed this thing can be heard. Low is not really any quieter, but probably less effective.

This is basically Honeywell's souped up answer to Ionic Breeze. Its noisy because the ionic cleaner is built around a tower fan and a new type of cleanable IFR filter is added. Its a much better value than the Ionic Breeze, Oreck and similar models. I just wish that it was quieter!!!!!

After one month, I saw some dust in the filter and cleaned it. These put out plenty of negative ions, which are great for chasing the blues away and making dust particles fall to the floor for you to vacuum them up. You will see the dust on the flour, rather than breath it into your lungs!

As long as you don't mind WHITE NOISE, this is better deal that oreck or ionic breeze in my opinion. Its half the price and tested to do a better job.

This one has a built in tower fan. A verticle squireel cage, if you will. If they could just make the darn thing less noisy it would be perfect!!!

I paid $163.17 for this item on October 4th, 2012. First of all, the majority of the reviews here are outdated. One of the biggest complaints was that when you hooked up the hose in the back the water would not flow out. Then you have to call the company and get an additional item to get it to work. BUT they have fixed any and all problems, so order with out fear. I got this item with the full knowledge that when I got it I would be calling the manufacturer to get it working with my hose, but when I called they said my unit was a 2012 model and it was good to go.

I live in coastal texas, in a 1200 sq/ft apartment that was unbearable with out the AC running all day. I'm more then ok at the temperature set at 80, with the dehumidifier going in the kitchen, small hose cut to fit running into the sink.

(I'm currently working on about 500 reviews, I order pretty much everything from Amazon but I (until now) never review. So I'm going through the years of orders to catch up, and try and give back to the system. If your reading this PLEASE hit the button saying this review was helpful, it does help out the people that make reviews, and trust me it takes a lot of time... I can't go into detail because of pending litigation, but nevertheless the fan was still going strong after nearly *three years* in service! The upside? This model is still produced! Thank the heavens! So we've bought another. The new model is as well-built as the last. Nothing blows like a Lasko!

Filtrete Hoover Self-Propelled Windtunnel Filter

I have two Hoover uprights with primary and final filters. I always use the Filtrete HEPA bags. After about a year of use, I noticed one vac would stop working after about 3 minutes, even with a clean bag. Turns out the primary and final HEPA filters were clogged. (this was a factory installed pleated final filter) I cleaned the primary and removed the final filter, and the vac worked fineeven had lots more suction!

In the mean time, I ordered these Filtrete final filters. I installed one, and found I lost a lot of suction, and I am concerned about overheating again. I am wondering if using a HEPA bag AND a HEPA final filter are just too much restriction for this machine?

Maybe this filter would be OK if I used just a regular paper bag? Yet, if the Filtrete HEPA bags do what they say they will do, then maybe I just don't need this final filter?

Puzzling, for sure. But I will give this 4 stars because it is a quality product and likely does what it is supposed to do (with a regular bag?)

Air Conditioning Window Unit Light Duty Support Bracket

Do not get this if you live in NYC in an apartment or if you live in a brick house. The horizontal bar that extends outward and supports the AC will be too short for most brick apartments in NYC, especially pre-war standard NYC brick co-op apartments...don't even think about getting this if you have one of those super old extended ledge pre-war windows.

I ordered this for the Frigidaire 8,000 BTU Frigidaire--which is around 50 pounds.

Invest in the next one up which is longer and supports 10,000 BTU and up.

In the end, hot and annoyed, wanting to get the AC installation over with, I called a local PC Richard, received verbal confirmation they carried 2 types of brackets (under 10,000 BTU and over 10,000 BTU), physically went there, got the longer one, paid probably $20 more than Amazon but priceless in instant gratification, and got it over and done with.

Dyson DC40 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Bought this vacuum on sale, so that helped out. I never thought I would have spent so much on a vacuum! Bought a Eureka pet model vacuum last year, and it was the WORST vacuum purchased. Did not pick up much, and ended up picking things like lose carpet fibers by hand.

The Dyson vacuum was easy to put together. Snaps easily together. No screw driver needed! Started up the Dyson DC40, and after working in a small area picked up more dirt and pet hair than my fairly new vacuum did. We were shocked to see how much dirt this baby pulled up! Vacuum moves nicely around and under furniture. I know other people have mentioned their dislike of the cord, stating it's too low. I noticed it is low, but I hooked the beginning of it on the top red cord loop and seemed to work out fine for me. Others have also mentioned that they thought the cord was too short. I think it would be a pain to have it longer than it is, it's fine for me.

Dyson also makes it easy to find and clear your blockages if needed. Instructions give clear pictures of where to find your problem area on the DC40, and have made the brush assembly easy to release from the body to clear anything out of that. Amazing they have a 5 year warranty too!

Aprilaire / Generalaire 4040 Humidifier Solenoid Valve

I'm an HVAC technician, and have replaced dozens of these. Remember to order an Aprilaire 4004 In-Line Strainer and the correct orifice for your humidifier model when you order this solenoid valve, because it doesn't come with them. If you forget the orifice, don't be surprised when water starts gushing out of the humidifier, because the orifice regulates the amount of water fed to it. The strainer goes in the long end of the solenoid fitting, and the orifice in the short end.

I bought this little guy about 2 years ago for my husband & his allergies. About an hour after I plugged it in, I noticed a difference in the air quality. Our bedroom felt much cleaner than before. The dander & dustgone! You will notice a fresher "feeling" when you use this plug mount air cleaner. You can buy replacement filters for this item, but I rinse the filter out, dry it, & use it again. SPT 8,000BTU Single Hose Portable AC

Ordered the SPT 8000 BTU Portable AC (with Single Hose) on 8/10/12 and with Prime got it next day Saturday delivery just in time for one of our hotter CA weekends so far this summer and glad we did.

Set up was easy and was up and running in half an hour enjoying the fast cooling from this no nonsense portable. Installation instructions were clear, controls on the unit and the remote easy for us to understand. The one thing I wish they had on this is a "follow me" feature on the remote that sounds useful, but even without that extra we are very much enjoying our cool new machine (pun intended) and am seriously considering another one over a econo-window unit.

The fan is loud on high (so you do have to leave the general vicinity to take a phone call or turn up the volume on the TV but I couldn't imagine any others not having the same affect) and just this side noticeable on low (very tolerable IMO), there is no in-between setting. Seems solidly built and practical for what you get and ion high this unit cooled a home office and bedroom (connected by a hallway) very well. The venting was straight forward, not sure about the draining yet for the condensation/water pan but it is fairly easy to access.

Staying cool without too much fuss so this is highly recommended!

my husband is a smoker and the best I can get him to do is to stand by the back door as he smokes. Half the time, the smoke blows right back in so I place this on a wall outlet nearby. It seems to work because I took it down for a couple of weeks and I started noticing when he was smoking while I was in other rooms of the house. I got this today and used this to clean bathroom, kitchen floors, etc. and was very pleased with how well it cleans without toxic fumes, etc. is one of the best environmentally friendly cleansers I have come across. The floors are so clean, they look new, Most environmental cleansers sold in stores, etc. just do not clean that well.and the chemical ones have to be rinsed, leave a residue behind. plus fumes so noxious, and I hate putting toxic things in our water supply. This one you do not have to rinse, does not leave anything behind. and just has gentle citrus smell to it. a little goes a long way. I love that it comes concentrated and I can dilute for what I need. I am going to order a gallon of this. I love this! can use it for almost all cleaning needs. is going to take the place of all the other cleansers I've used. so glad I got this. highly recommend it. is safe, nontoxic, a pleasure to use. am grateful to this company, as it is hard to come up with nontoxic cleaner that does the job.
