Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought the dyson dc24 all floors vacuum factory serviced at abc Vacuum Warehouse. The item was shipped same day I ordered it and arrived on time. The vacuum is just about new and comes with a six month warrenty from Dyson and 21/2 years from Abc Vacuum warehouse. The appliance runs well the only thing is that the cord is too short and you will probably need an extension. all in all I am a satisfied customer.

Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum

I previously had a Hoover Windtunnel, it lasted two houses and over 9 years and it finally had enough of keeping up with our two children and 4 pets. So I went out to every website I could find with reviews on vacuum cleaners, including Amazon, and looked at everything from the Dyson, Kenmore, Dirt Devil, Hoover, and so many more. I promised myself that after I used my vacuum cleaner for 3 months I would help all those out there like me looking for a good review and let them know about my experience because the reviews were so helpful to me.

So after reading a bunch of reviews I was leaning towards a Dyson or a Kenmore Progressive. Well my friend had a Dirt Devil M140005 Vision Cyclonic 12 Amp Upright Vacuum Cleaner, a Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum, and a canister vacuum cleaner (forgot the brand) that she let me test out. Let's just say I hated all three, the Dirt Devil was a joke, the Kenmore was so heavy and a pain to use, the canister was a pain to use and none of them worked well with pet hair.

So then I went to a local store and looked at the Dyson DC 23 Motorhead and really considered paying over $400 for it. But then I looked down the aisle and there not too far down from it stood the Hoover UH70120 WindTunnel and it was only $100 so I decided to give the Hoover a try thinking if I wasn't satisfied I could take it back. I am so happy that I saved $300 and love how well my Hoover works. It sucks up pet hair off the furniture very well, I have hardwoods throughout my house and it picks up fur and dirt off the floor without blowing it around (the suction is great) and I only have 3 complaints but ya know for the price I can live with them. Complaint #1 I wish the powered hand tool stuck on a little bit better to the vacuum cleaner, if I am not careful to put it on correctly it falls off, so I need to be a little more careful, Complaint #2, empting out the canister can be a little bit dirty so I always do it outside and then it's fine, Complaint #3, I love the retractable cord, I just wish it were up a little higher instead of so low, it would just help keep it from going under the vacuum cleaner but, there is a little clip and if you clip the cord to the vacuum cleaner you don't have to worry about it going under the vacuum cleaner so problem solved.

So I say save your money instead of wasting it on a Dyson or a Kenmore for the price this vacuum cleaner is so worth it.

12x25x1 ULTRA 800 Allergen Reduction Air Filter 6-Pack

We live in an apartment that was built in the early 1970's and have had a hard time finding filters to fit our furnace/AC unit for years. Until I found these the only ones in the correct size I could find were super cheap quality and didn't do much at all for my allergies.

I'm very happy with how much better these filters work and thrilled that I have a 6 pack!

Saves me so much time searching for decent filters in the correct size.

Oransi Ionic Fridge Air Purifier

The Oransi fridge air purifier works using a built in micro CPU that controls the purification cycle in the fridge. That sound impressive right! Especially since I have always used baking soda to help eliminate odors in the fridge. I was enthusiastic about trying this system. It uses two AA batteries that lasts for about 60 days. But I changed them to rechargeables. There is no filter to change and it's small enough to fit on the back of the shelf and not get in the way. Overall it works as promised. I put an onion on a plate and placed it in the refrigerator. It took about 2 hours and then the odor was diminished quite a bit. It did not eliminate the odor immediately but in a few hours it was gone! This product was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.Copyright© KatherinesCorner.com-for Amazon.com

Eureka AirSpeed® Pet Bagless Upright Vacuum

I have two big dogs who shed a lot, so I am very, very picky about my vacuum cleaners. Most I have tried have been disappointments, so when I find one that actually works, I'm excited to review it.

Like most modern vacuums, this model was easy to put together; it was up and running in 5 minutes. The first thing that struck me was the size: it's a smaller vacuum, with a full-size dirt canister. Yes! It's perfect for getting into smaller spaces and not as heavy to push. I don't know why most other vacuums have to be so gigantic and hard to manuever.

The suction is great! Got a ton of fur out of my carpet, even though I had vacuumed less than 24 hours previously. The dirt cup is easy to remove. It's a closed canister, so you take the entire thing off, walk over to the trash can, and open the bottom to empty it. Nice and neat. VERY easy to put back in place on the vacuum.

Another feature I absolutely love is the extra-long cord. I've never had a vacuum with a cord this long. Really! I can plug it into a central location and do multiple rooms. My only complaint is it's not retractable, so maybe minus 1/2 star for the tiny annoyance of having to manually rewind the cord.

Overall, I love this vacuum. It does everything a vacuum should do. Yay :)

Dirt Devil Power Air Lightweight Stick Vac

If you're looking for a quick rating of the Dirt Devil's performance, it gets five stars. But as they say, the devil is in the details. Below is a brief overview, with discussion to follow.

Pros:

* Very powerful suction

* Assembles quickly

* Large dirt cup capacity

* Removal of dirt cup is fast

* Fairly quiet

* Electric cord length is about 20'

* Sturdy wheels

* Low-profile cleaning head

* Capable of hanging storage

Cons:

* Replacement of dirt cup requires precision

* Weight of vacuum a factor in some cases

* Plastic casing

If you are accustomed to a battery powered stick vacuum, you will be pleasantly surprised at the performance of this electric powered, lightweight, stick vacuum. It has the ability to pick up small and larger pieces of dirt on both hard floors and those with carpeting. (It performed beautifully on tile floors, oriental rugs, and thickly padded, dense carpeting.) And this is despite not having a vacuum's traditional beater bar with bristles. It does have a toothed, small, rubber strip that may assist in lifting dirt to be sucked into the unit.

To assemble, simply attach the cleaning head to the unit. The handle (stick) clicks into place and is attached to the vacuum. Depending on your proficiency, this can take from one to three minutes.

The dirt cup is located on the front of the unit. That makes it very easy to remove and empty. However, replacing it is not so easy and fast. I couldn't align the cup to the unit by bending over the vacuum. To do it, I had two choices. I could put the vacuum on the kitchen counter (not hygienic) or, put the stick under my arm with the unit resting against my body. In that position, I could see how to align the two pieces. Being short, this may be a problem only for me and not for most consumers.

Four plastic wheels move this vacuum; two tiny ones at the front of the cleaning head and two much larger ones in the rear. Not having rubber wheels means no residue peeling off as you vacuum--a definite plus.

The cleaning head is 1 ½" in height. This low profile means that getting under a low sitting piece of furniture is possible. The center of the head is higher so, only one-half of the head will fit. That gives you several inches of clearance to clean. Beyond that, you would have to move the piece of furniture. If you've ever thoroughly vacuumed, leaving a visible dust line just under a hard-to-reach item, you'll appreciate this feature.

The electric cord length is ample for cleaning a generously-sized area. Of course, it needs to be relocated as you move from space to space. The cord probably won't stretch up a flight of stairs, but the unit's weight (about seven pounds) might discourage you from using it there. The cord stores neatly when wrapped in the place provided.

Storage should not be a problem. It stands upright on its own. Its size makes it an excellent choice for those with little storage capacity. Additionally, the manufacturer has thoughtfully provided a very large `O' at the top of the stick, for storing the vacuum in a hanging position.

A possible negative feature may be the vacuum's plastic casing. It doesn't appear to be very strong. For example, hanging it on my garage wall with heavier items, means that I have to be very careful to not let them touch one another, for fear of cracking the vacuum's casing. Or, if I hang it and it falls, will it still be useable? Think of where you store bikes, carriages, strollers, suitcases, sports equipment, etc. and try to keep them from your Dirt Devil.

Overall, this stick vacuum is devilishly good.

20x25x4/20x25x5 (19.8"x24.8"x4.3") ULTRA 1200 MERV 13 Bryant Replacement Air Filter

Filter is made in USA and is an effective Merv 13 during dry weather. The extended descriptions says that the filters are 19 7/8" tall. The filters are actually 19 3/4" tall. To fix, I cut a 1" x 25" piece of cardboard from my last filter pack shipping box and double taped it across the top with 2" wide 3M clear packaging tape. I, like 99.9% of homeowners, do not have a manometer to check pressure drop, but my furnace does not seem to be working any harder than it did with a Merv 8 filter. My allergies did diminish greatly after installing this filter.

May 20,2012 Update

If we open the windows at night, I get stuffed up. If the windows stay closed, I breath perfectly! These filters are dynamite in dry weather! This filter is now available in a 2-pack to save a few dollars.

June 2012 Update

When it got humid out, I got indoor alergies, even with new filters (bought in a 2-pack). The filters bought in May were not made the exact same way they were before (no matter, they both have issues with high humidity). I was dissappointed. I replaced this generic filter with a X6675 Lennox 20x25x5 MERV 16 Filter Media for HCC20-28. The Lennox filter is made with fiberglass and does not rely on static electricity to improve the effective MERV rating. It costs much more than the generic, but it works, every day, even on humid days!

November 2012 Update.

I am still using the Lennox filter and am still McLovin it!!

A side note: the generic has about 17 pleates. The Lennox filter has 72! Way more filter area with the Lennox.

16x24x1 ULTRA 800 Allergen Reduction Air Filter 6-Pack

While the filtration of this filter is fine, I am quite disappointed that the dimensions stated in the product title are not the true dimensions. Yes, I do find now that in the further description that it states the dimensions given are "nominal" and that the ACTUAL dimensions are 0.5 inches less than the stated. But in ACTUALITY, the measurements are even smaller than that! I find that my so-called "16x24" filters (that they say are "15.5x23.5") are really 15 11/32 inches by 23 11/32 inches.

Maybe it's an "industry standard" to not use the exact dimensions stated, but I don't think so since 3M Filtrete doesn't do so. And you know what? If the measurement is less than 0.5, you have to ROUND DOWN!!

While I COULD order from these guys again and get the right size this time, I have no plan to do so.

Dyson DC23 Animal Vacuum Cleaner

First, you need to understand that there are several models for the DC23 series. As of Oct 2010, there are the Turbohead, Animal and Motorhead. The canister for all 3 models are technically the same (minus the color). The differences between the 3 models are the accessories (e.g. length of hose, tools, handle, etc) that come with each, and how each machine can be stored away.

For a quick rundown of the differences, it is best to refer to dyson's online store and read the "Plus the following Accessories..." in the specifications tab.

This review is specifically for DC 23 ANIMAL (obviously), but most part of the review is applicable for all 3 models.

PRO:

powerful suck thru carpet

pick up animal hairs (cat) like magic

multiple intelligent designs that simplify the vacuuming job

comes with useful tools that can handle most home situations well

most parts can be cleaned easily with cold water

no non-durable parts

long power cable

not THAT noisy

good looking

very helpful customer representative from DYSON

CON:

takes an unexpectedly large amount of horizontal space to store it away despite the small canister (the way it stands in the product picture is the way it is supposed to be put away)

it is a dust magnet and can be difficult to clean up due to many small parts and gaps

may need a longer bit of time than average to fully utilize the machine

very small trash holding capacity

short hose length

very expensive for a vacuum cleaner

Bottom line (my personal opinion):

It does the job (vacuuming) really well. However, it makes me think that the cheapest model in the DC23 series (Turbohead) may suffice my everyday needs, as there are no big difference between the two on paper.

I am a techie yet it took me an unexpectedly long time to figure out what are all those many buttons and tools for. I think they may have 'over-engineered' it in certain area.

It takes a lot of space to store it in my tiny apartment. The Motorhead of the DC23 series that uses less storage space (due to the longer hose) but it is $100 on top of the already expensive $500 pricetag. Luckily, I can improvise and make it takes up less space but detaching certain parts but it also increases the 'setup' time needed for each use.

It's a keep.

Essick Air 1041 Replacement Console Wick

I am writing this review to counter its current 1-star rating (from a review based solely on a marketplace SELLER and not the actual product).

This product is what it is ~ a replacement wick for some Bemis and Essick humidifiers. We bought this for our Bemis ED11-800 and our Bemis 4D7-800 and it works great. No white dusts. We had tried cheaper replacement wicks and they just didn't work as well.

Amazon definitely had the best price at the time we got these at under $13 shipping included PLUS a 4 for the price of 3 promo.

NewAir AF330 Portable Evaporative Swamp Air Cooler

The AF-330 NewAir Evaporative Swamp Cooler with Special HEPA Air Purifier is a pretty good swamp cooler with just a couple of flaws. As with all swamp coolers, it isn't going to make your room feel air conditioned, but in dry climates, it is good to sleep with it blowing over you, or it is good to get raise the humidity levels somewhat. Now for the good stuff first about this unit.

For starters, the 13-liter water tank means that you won't have to fill it as often. Most portable swamp coolers I've owned only had a 10-liter tank which means they don't last more than 8-hours on "cool." There's also an ice tray to add ice for additional cooling effect.

Next on the plus list are the air filter system. In addition to the standard foam filter, it comes with a HEPA filter and a carbon filter. Combined with the ION setting, this really seemed to make an improvement in air quallity. After a month of use, I haven't noticed the normal "swamp stench" that swamp coolers usually get. I don't know if those filters are the reason or not, but there you go.

The fan is much more powerful than any previous portable swamp cooler I've owned. Even at the low setting, the fan works pretty good when sleeping in front of it.

The controls are pretty standard. You get the 1-8 hour timer, oscillating louver control, 3 fan speeds, "cool" function (to activate the swamp cooler function), and ION control. The unit comes with a handy remote control which handles all features, which is great for controling the unit while in bed. ^_^

There were two negatives. The biggest is adding water to the tank. The portable swamp coolers I've owned before have had a convienent port on the side of the unit were one can add a gallon of water to the tank in a few seconds. This unit has no such port. Instead, water has to be added to the top of the unit where a small section is partitioned off from the ice tray to add water. As such, it only holds a small amount of water and the drain into the tank isn't very large. So it can take a couple of minutes to empty a gallon of water into the tank. That's pretty tedious, especially when you are tired and just want to go to sleep.

The other problem I had was with the documentation. As you note, the product description proudly mentions the carbon filter. The box the unit comes in proudly mentions this. And a carbon filter comes sealed with the unit. Initially, I thought that maybe this was some sort of water filter since I've used carbon filters for fish tanks and for water pitchers. However, there is NOTHING in the documentation that says anything about the carbon filter. The regular foam air filter and the HEPA filter are mentioned, but that's it. Since it didn't seem to obviously go into the water tank (that is a bit of a pain to get to) and it did fit the back panel where the air filters are, I put it back there. But does it go before or after the HEPA filter? Some documentation would have been nice.

The final negative about the unit is purchasing replacement filters. I found none on Amazon's site. Air & Water, the company from which the unit actually came, has a website, and while ordering the unit directly from them gives you the option to purchase additional filters, their website has no place to just purchase replacement filters. That's pretty stupid if you ask me.

Bottom line: There are many good things about this swamp cooler to include the HEPA filter, carbon filter, larger water tank, ION feature, and greater fan power. The lack of a good water input port, no information about the carbon filter, and a lack of ease to aquire replacement filters weren't enough to stop me from giving this an overall "buy" recommendation.

Daikin Flash Streamer Air Purifier MC75KSU

Replacement Air Purifier Carbon Pre-Filter 4 Pack Whirlpool Whispure AP510

The filters are much thicker than expected and are a generic brand. They did not fit in the air purifier properly due to the thickness. Once I got a filter to fit in I turned on the purifier and 20 minutes later my room had a terrible smell in it from the filter material. I do not recommend this item.

Dirt Devil FeatherLite Cyclonic Canister Vacuum

My previous vacuum had those motorized brush heads. It was fine, but not having any carpets in the house, I felt I was simply using a machine that had features that I did not used to their full potential. All these features also had a weight that I had to drag around while vacuuming. With this Dirt evil canister model, I had all that I needed: lightweight to quickly pick up dust, dirt and a little bit of dog hair (I have a Lhasa Apso). It's extremly easy to empty as well! Its power cord is fine for me, as I have have read somewhere on the net that some users find of somewhat short. If you have one electric outlet per room, you should be fine. I find it's power to be more than adequate: I was able to pick up some of my dog's food pellets hidden in some corners. I got this item on special at 60$ and I'm more than happy with it! Makes vacuuming much easier, lighter and faster. This model might not be powerful enough if you have a heavy shedding dog... My mom has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that sheds continually and she has a much more powerful model. All in all, this Dirt Devil model is most likely for people who don't have carpets and little to no pet hair to vacuum. Sound level for me was comparable or a little bit less noisy than my previous model (Pet Jaguar if you do not activate the power brush).

HumidiHeat 3%2Din%2D1 Heater Humidifier

I have had this heater for over a year and it helps heat up my entire downstairs because of the fact that it uses warm air with the water feature. I have gone through tons of different heaters that half the time I am lucky if it heats up a room, this one heats up my living room, kitchen, dining room and a half bath plus the heat goes up the stairs and helps to keep that area warm too. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a heater that really works.

Dyson DC40 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Bought this vacuum on sale, so that helped out. I never thought I would have spent so much on a vacuum! Bought a Eureka pet model vacuum last year, and it was the WORST vacuum purchased. Did not pick up much, and ended up picking things like lose carpet fibers by hand.

The Dyson vacuum was easy to put together. Snaps easily together. No screw driver needed! Started up the Dyson DC40, and after working in a small area picked up more dirt and pet hair than my fairly new vacuum did. We were shocked to see how much dirt this baby pulled up! Vacuum moves nicely around and under furniture. I know other people have mentioned their dislike of the cord, stating it's too low. I noticed it is low, but I hooked the beginning of it on the top red cord loop and seemed to work out fine for me. Others have also mentioned that they thought the cord was too short. I think it would be a pain to have it longer than it is, it's fine for me.

Dyson also makes it easy to find and clear your blockages if needed. Instructions give clear pictures of where to find your problem area on the DC40, and have made the brush assembly easy to release from the body to clear anything out of that. Amazing they have a 5 year warranty too!

Replacement Filter for Aprilaire/Space-Gard 2400 Air Cleaner

No problem, installation is exactly the same is the Aprilaire brand, a bit of a hassle, due to the design of the filter box, but that's the design of the Space-Guard filter, not the fault of these filters. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.

Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas Heater

This heater is excellent and the perfect fit, for a certain set of requirements.

If you have electricity, use an electric heater. Don't bother with the hassel of propane. The cost isn't too different and the hassel factor is much higher than electricity.

I also don't recommend using the small canisters. That's an inconvinient way to go as well.

BUT. If you don't have power and need a cheap, safe heat source that you can run while you sleep, this is the best one made. Buy the 12' hose, place a 20lb propane tank outside, and run this heater all night with just a small crack in a window or door (just in case!). You will get > 100 hours of heat out of a tank of propane! Less than a buck to run it all night.

Highly recommended under the right circumstances.

Hoover WindTunnel Upright Type Y Vacuum Bags Microfiltration

I just received these bags, but the brand was NOT Envirocare as advertised -it was Crucial Vacuum, a cheap Chinese knock-off (of a generic!). I've been having this problem with vacuum parts through Amazon where vendors ship out much cheaper, inferior parts than what's pictured and hope that most people don't complain. Amazon is not doing an adequate job of keeping tabs on these vendors, and they are making a mint off of these cheap, inferior bags.

I e-mailed the vendor to complain and they are sending out the correct brand, but really, why should I have to do that? If this happens to you, please complain to Amazon as well -it's their responsibility to screen out vendors, especially when they rotate vendors through as the primary supplier (so feedback left for one may be attributed to another).
