Frigidaire PU7502A Central Vacuum Canister Power Unit Only

This is a powerful vac. I am using it for an area approximately 3000 sf, but all single level.

One issue that I found was that when I was vacuuming foam powder, that the filter was not fine enough to prevent it from coming out of the exhaust pipe (old powdered foam was out of 17 year old sofa set that I was ripping out where sofa foam cushion eroded to power form).

However, for typical home debris like dust, food partials, paper cuttings, etc, it is perfect. However, if you are vacuuming fine dust like I just mentioned above or another example may be printer toner power spill, then the out-of-box filter is not fine enough. I am sure one can find a HIPPA filter or another fine grain filter to prevent that.

Electrolux Oxygen Canister Vacuum Cleaner

I was quite confused when I first started doing research on electorlux. My mother, and her mother, have always owned electrolux vacuums. This electrolux is not the same company that has been doing business in the U.S. under the electrolux name in the past. The old electrolux has changed their name to Aerus Electrolux.

Electrolux is an international company that states on their website "Electrolux is the world's largest producer of appliances and equipment for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use." In the United States they do business under the familiar names: Eureka, Frigidaire, Poulan, Weed Eater, and now thier upscale brand Electrolux.

OK, on to the vacuum. I bought mine after much research at Lowe's. While opening and putting the thing together, a small clip that holds the power head on the shaft broke off. I called the company and they said they would send me a new piece with out much hassle, but then got a call back 15 minutes later saying that since the product was so new, it might take 2 months to send me a replacement part and suggested I just return it for a new one to Lowe's. My over all experience with thier customer support leads me to beleive that I won't have too many problems dealing with them in the future.

My second vacuum unpacked fine and after a couple uses I'm quite satisfied with it's performance. The carpet powerhead does very well on my rugs, and even does ok on hard floors. The hard floor attachment is more than a foot wide and makes quick work of the hard wood in my house but is so wide you have to switch it for the corner tool to get around most furnature. I was impressed with the suction from the vacuum, even before I noticed that I only had it turned up half way :) So I'll try to sum up the pros and cons.

Pro:

Cool looking

Nice cord length and roll up storage

Wide reach on the attachments

Small size of the canister

Does a good job of sucking up small stuff

Bags are just more than $1 each (for the standard bags)

Easily turn on and off the roller on the power head

Both the hard floor attachment, and the power head easily go under beds and couches

Con:

Hard to deteach the hose from the canister for storage

Power head won't work on bath mats

I'll post again in a few months when I see how it's holding up.

Eureka U Style Premium Bag

I could have purchased the 'plain' ones...but I live rural, have long-haired cat and dog...and keep the windows open all summer.....I opt for the pollen collecting kind--wish they were more affordable, but they aren't too bad of an expense...they hold a lot. I have a bagless vac too and prefer this to it.

Honeywell AirGenius4 Air Cleaner

Honeywell AirGenius4 Air Cleaner/Odor Reducer, HFD310

This is my third air cleaner that I have added to my household in the last year.

At this point, I know what features I really prefer and find helpful.

I appreciate the timer feature and use it daily and I consider it a must for all future purchases. It's so convenient to just set the timer after you turn it on and not have to worry about turning it off before bed or if it's in my bedroom turning it off after I get up in the morning. This unit has settings for 2, 4 and 8 hours. My other air cleaner has a 24 hour timer which I prefer. I run my cleaners longer than 8 hours.

With this unit the air cleaner oscillates which I think is the most important and the best feature. It is the first and only air cleaner I have seen with this feature. I think it really helps clean/distribute/deodorize the air better and faster and at this time I feel it is a feature I won't do without in future purchases.

Aside from the energy star rating I also like the quietness of the unit. This has a sleep mode that is extremely quiet, you can barely tell it's on. There are also the general, allergen and max modes. They get slightly louder as the levels go up but I think even at the highest setting it is rather quiet.

The Honeywell AirGenius 4 measures about as wide as my other air cleaners but for some reason it looks wider. With all it does though, I can easily overlook the appearance. (The control panel and width is almost 8 inches across)

A feature of this unit is that it also comes with an odor filter. This is in addition to the washable foam pre-filter but you cannot use this in combination with the odor reducing pre-filter. I really wish I could use both at the same time. The odor filter you throw out when it needs replacing.

Overall, I totally love the oscillating feature and the fact that this does a larger room (250sq.ft) which is perfect for my house because my kitchen opens in the living room area. The Honeywell AirGenius does a fantastic job of cleaning, deodorizing and distributing the air that I plan on getting one for my daughter's room.

There is a 2 pack odor reducing pre-filter on Honeywell's site for 19.95. The other filters are permanent because they are washable which will add up to quite a savings!

Roomaid Amaircare HEPA Air Purifier

I must have tried at least 5 different air purifier/filter units over the past few years. None of them really seemed to do much, whether they had a HEPA filter or not. None of them seemed to remove the odors from cleaning products, cat litter and various other household stuff. (No VOC filter, I guess.) Neither my wife nor I have particularly sensitive noses but we were often congested and could smell the various chemicals. We put plants in some rooms, which were nice from a decor standpoint, but we couldn't tell if they were being effective over time. We did NOT want to use the "air fresheners" sold at retails chains since they contain all kinds of werid chemicals including nerve deadeners. Yup, some of them "remove odors" by simply deadening the nerves in your nose. Others overwhelm nasty odors with a cocktail of their own "nice" odors. Awesome NOT!

We have a baby on the way and wanted something that worked in our small (11' x 15') nursery. After 1.5 days of solid cleaning it reeked of chemicals. Enter this little unit, which got good reviews on the web. Assembly was easy and the instructions were fairly clear. We left it on overnight. Next morning, we found a huge difference. The smells were noticeably milder. Within 2 days, the room smelt "clean", i.e., of little to nothing. We found having it at waist or chest height was most effective in terms of circulating air. Any odors in the room are from stuff we know about and can control. E.g., we just used wood cleaner on the a table so it smells of wood cleaner for a while. But that smell goes away quickly. Our noses literally clear right up when we go in.

The downside is that it is noisy on "high". Apparently babies like white noise so it might not be a problem for a nursery. But I can't really imagine using it much in, say, my office which has similar dimensions.

Overall, 5 stars for doing its job. I can put up with a bit of noise to breathe clean air. We liked it so much we got its big brother the 2500.

Honeywell HFD-100 Tower HEPA Air Purifier

This does a good job of cleaning the air. I breath better with it. That is the most important thing, right?

I bought two, *but my wife turns the one in the living room off when she gets up before dawn*. I have to remember to turn it back on. Low or high speed this thing can be heard. Low is not really any quieter, but probably less effective.

This is basically Honeywell's souped up answer to Ionic Breeze. Its noisy because the ionic cleaner is built around a tower fan and a new type of cleanable IFR filter is added. Its a much better value than the Ionic Breeze, Oreck and similar models. I just wish that it was quieter!!!!!

After one month, I saw some dust in the filter and cleaned it. These put out plenty of negative ions, which are great for chasing the blues away and making dust particles fall to the floor for you to vacuum them up. You will see the dust on the flour, rather than breath it into your lungs!

As long as you don't mind WHITE NOISE, this is better deal that oreck or ionic breeze in my opinion. Its half the price and tested to do a better job.

This one has a built in tower fan. A verticle squireel cage, if you will. If they could just make the darn thing less noisy it would be perfect!!!

210 Bionaire Electret Air Cleaner Replacement Filter

This filter bears no resemblance to the original in my Bionaire, except for dimensions. It is much flimsier. Nor does it match Amazon's image. Nevertheless there aren't a lot of choices.

Eureka Powerline Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum

I've never reviewed a vacuum cleaner before. In fact, I never review any products, but my husband and I have been laughing all evening. I bought this vacuum cleaner the other day, after our Oreck died. We needed a lightweight vacuum to keep upstairs only, and since the Eureka Powerline was also fairly small, it was perfect for us. My husband vacuumed first and the canister was full. The amazing thing was though... we had JUST vacuumed the day before. We have short haired 2 cats and 2 short haired dogs. I took the Eureka downstairs and cleaned the living room, and again, the canister was FULL. We emptied it and went over the living room again, and again it filled up. That's when we realized how much dirt and pet hair our old vacuums had been missing! We've been cleaning with this like crazy ever since. The "power paw" attachment worked great on our couches, and it comes with a crevice tool that was really all we needed.

I know I sound like an infomercial, but I'm so impressed with this vacuum. We got a great deal on it and its better than any vacuum we've owned before.

Oransi Ionic Fridge Air Purifier

The Oransi fridge air purifier works using a built in micro CPU that controls the purification cycle in the fridge. That sound impressive right! Especially since I have always used baking soda to help eliminate odors in the fridge. I was enthusiastic about trying this system. It uses two AA batteries that lasts for about 60 days. But I changed them to rechargeables. There is no filter to change and it's small enough to fit on the back of the shelf and not get in the way. Overall it works as promised. I put an onion on a plate and placed it in the refrigerator. It took about 2 hours and then the odor was diminished quite a bit. It did not eliminate the odor immediately but in a few hours it was gone! This product was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.Copyright© KatherinesCorner.com-for Amazon.com

Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright Vacuum Cleaner

This little vacuum packs in power and innovative design. From the first try, I was amazed at the suction. The first time through the house I quickly filled the bag and had to change it. The Intensity pulled up all the little carpet fuzz on the 3-year-old carpet that my old vacuum could never get. It has more power than any other vacuum I've used.

The collapsing design is a nice feature. It folds up into a neat little package that fits easily on a closet floor without running into the coats. I love the controls on the top of the handle. You can go from bare floor to carpet with the touch of a button. The cord retracts nicely. The bag is easy to change, though a bit small, well, because the vacuum is small.

I discovered a nice fail-safe feature when I tried to finish the room when the full bag light was on. The vacuum shut off. I waited a bit to let it cool down, changed the bag, and it started right up. So pay attention to that light.

Overall, the design is fantastic. A couple improvements though would make it even better. For it's small size, light weight and those big wheels, it doesn't corner all that easily. The front is nice and flat and has an edge for going under cabinets, but since the front is the same width as the back, you can't go straight under cabinets. You have to go at an angle and keep adjusting the position. So making the front part a little wider than the back would make going under cabinets a breeze.

Also, if it didn't have that big carrying handle on the top of the canister, it would vacuum right under the bed. The handle isn't positioned well anyway for doing stairs, because when you hold it by the handle to maneuver on stairs, it's too back heavy and tips back. A handle placed a little farther back on the canister would solve that problem and it would vacuum under the bed.

There are no attachments with this vacuum, but I prefer that it do it's job on the floors and I use a cordless vacuum for furniture, edging and stairs anyway.

Please don't write this vacuum off as a secondary, light-duty vacuum. Even though it's small, it's a full-duty whole house vacuum with plenty of suction.

CabCool 802 Lite Dual 80mm Fan Cooling Kit

I bought this fan kit to keep the cabinet housing my home theater equipment from getting too hot. Upon opening the package and inspecting the components, I called CoolGuys because I thought I was missing a connector my bad for not reading the instructions beforehand. They answered the call quickly and explained how the unit needed to be connected so, no missing part. I assembled the kit in about 5 mins. All the materials seem to be sturdy and of good quality. Some posters here have complained about mounting holes not be properly aligned. I did not experience this at all. I installed it in my cabinet in another 5 mins. The fans are absolutely quiet you can't even hear them at arm's length. Great product and excellent customer service. I definitely recommend this kit.

Sharp FP-P30U Plasmacluster? Air Purifier

My review is on three thingspower use, audibility, and the ionizing feature.

Measurements of power consumption:

Quiet mode: 3 watts

Medium: 8 watts

High: 16 watts

Based on this I'd say the device deserves its energy star rating.

Noise:

The quiet mode is almost imperceptible in a room with some other background noise (traffic, wind), the medium level is far quieter than the low speed mode of some cheaper filters (Holmes,Honeywell) that I've used. The high mode is similar in noise level to a medium setting on a cheap filter, perhaps a little quieter.

The quality of the noise is very uniform. I only hear some variation in sound on the quiet mode, the fan seems to rub against something on every cycle. This will likely go away with use.

The ionizer makes a steady on-off very high pitched (probably not audible to older ears) noise sometimes and very little at others. This may have to do with humidity. It can be turned off.

Ionizer/Plasma Cluster:

Running this in an empty room for a few minutes and entering the room I notice a very big difference. The air feels very close to the "after a storm" feeling. Their web site explains how this technology works if you want the details, but it definitely alters the "feel" of the air in the room in a significant way.

Misc:

The blue light on the front is way too bright, as with most appliances these days. I guess you can put a sticker on it or color it with a black permanent marker to dampen that down. That's my only dislike so far.

Its design is such that you might assume you could mount this on a wall. Not so. It is for floor use only as far as I can tell.

Essick Air 1041 Replacement Console Wick

I am writing this review to counter its current 1-star rating (from a review based solely on a marketplace SELLER and not the actual product).

This product is what it is ~ a replacement wick for some Bemis and Essick humidifiers. We bought this for our Bemis ED11-800 and our Bemis 4D7-800 and it works great. No white dusts. We had tried cheaper replacement wicks and they just didn't work as well.

Amazon definitely had the best price at the time we got these at under $13 shipping included PLUS a 4 for the price of 3 promo.

2-pack General Generalaire Humidifier 990-13 Water Pad

I have had the GeneralAire humidifier for 6 years. The other 990-13 evaporator pads that I have purchased cost close to twice as much per pad as the 2 pack including shipping. The powder is on every pad that I have used. Rinsing the pad with water washes off the extra powder and makes it easier to handle without making a mess. Good quality and great price.

Honeywell HFD-120-Q Tower Quiet Air Purifier

I decided to get this air cleaner after trying the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and a larger Honeywell HEPA filter. At the time of purchase, the Sharper Image was the only one with a permanent filter. This was a big plus for me seeing as the older HEPA cleaners have 2 filters to replace, the larger one being nearly the price of the machine. This Honeywell tower has a permanent filter.

There are many claims for and against the Ionic Breeze. I'm still undecided on how effective it is -but I feel almost the same way about my large HEPA filter. I found myself running both of them to control my allergies. Although I cleaned them regularly and found dust on both, I can't say the air was particularly different. However, shortly after turning this on in the bedroom for the first time, I could smell a difference. I haven't had it long enough to say it's made a real dent in my allergies -plus the fact that my allergies are intermittant -but I'm pleased that I even notice it.

One thing to note -the Amazon description says there is an independently controlled Ionizer. I assumed that meant I could control it independently of the HEPA Unit. If that's the case, I have yet to see how. It's not mentioned anywhere in the tiny booklet and there are no buttons for it. For that reason, I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5. I did want to control the ionizer separately because I wanted to be able shut that off entirely. There are camps on both sides arguing for an against ionizers, and some claim they make breathing worse -so being able to compare with and without it was something I wanted to try. If anyone else knows how to do it, then post it here. :)

Compared to the larger Honeywell that I own, this one is much more quiet on each of its three settings. When I first read the description I didn't pay attention to the oscillating function. Now, it's my favorite part of this cleaner. The oscillator is the thing that is independent of the cleaner -and when its on, the machine rotates in place, back and forth, blowing the air in an arc. I like this feature a lot and I think helps with cleaning a larger area. Maybe the ionizer is attached to this feature?

This unit is significantly heavier than the similar looking Ionic Breeze. Also, the manual states it should be placed 3 feet from any wall or furniture. The cord is not that long, and placing the cord behind some furniture to get to an outlet has made it nearly impossible for me to reach a spot a full 3 feet away.

Anyway, so far I am pleased and would recommend this unit to some one who is looking for a compromise between those two types of cleaners.
