Holmes HAP716-U True HEPA 3 Speed Tower Allergen Remover

You might say I have OCD when it comes to dust. I've always had to deal with a thin film of it building up on my desk over the course of just a day or two, so when I gave my office a total makeover, I decided that I would do everything to eliminate as much dust as possible. I bought the Holmes True-HEPA tower about a week ago and I couldn't be happier. I run it 24/7, usually on 3, but sometimes on 1 or 2 if I'm on the phone or something (although it isn't really too loud). After a week, there's not a speck of dust in sight. I never expected it to work so well!

Another plus is that the pre-filter is washable, so you don't have to purchase two sets of replacement filters. Most of the other purifiers that I researched used incredibly expensive filters. I could have easily just purchased a brand new air purifier for the same price. But the filters for the Holmes True-HEPA tower are only half the price of the device itself, which isn't bad at all, in my opinion.

The bottom line is: if you have serious issues with dust, household odors, or allergies, this is the best $80 you will ever spend.

A1401B Bionaire Air Cleaner Dual Filter Cartridge

We have this Bionaire air cleaner from forever and did not want to replace it but found locating the correct size filters hard to do. Luckily they were on this site and we were able to put the air cleaner back in use. We bought two just in case. It works great.

Rocky Mountain Air RMA3500-CHO Summit 7-Stage Home

This is the best air machine for the money I have ever purchased. I have one that cost twice as much and doesnt do as good of job. The reviews suggest Blue Air,etc.which cost a lot more. I havent seen any reviews on this one but can tell you it is worth every penney.

Danby DDR3010E 30 Pint Dehumidifier

Exactly what advertised. Energy Star rated. Comparatively quiet, especially the compressor (can barely hear it start up and run). The fan noise is, again, fairly quiet compared to others I have had/heard. (But I wouldn't want to try to sleep in a room with any dehumidifier running) I think the water reservoir is appropriately sized for a 30-pint unit. Display tells you the current humidity level in the room. Have only had it for a month, so the true test will be durability. I've been extremely disappointed with another brand, having bought two of them and both failed in less than three seasons of use.

Holmes HAP9412B-U Small Room HEPA Type Air Purifier

have had this product for almost a year now. i purchased it on sale at Target for $40. I have not replaced the filter i just vacuum it out monthly and it is still performing very well. Its actually really gross how much dust this product removes from the air i breathe. The noise it generates (which isnt too loud) helps me sleep at night. I keep this thing running on high 24/7 because i have a dog that sheds (picks up his hair as well). the device has two filters the pre-filter which can be washed by hand (i spray some febreze on it to keep my room fresh. and then the regular filter. I would definetly recommend this air purifier.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!: another year has passed and i have changed the filter only once. Vacuuming it really freshens it up. I still leave it on high 24/7 only shutting it off once a week for an hour or so. The air purifier picks up so much dust and pet hair that it actually builds up on the outside part where the air intakes. All you need to do is wipe it down with a rag. Once again I HIGHLY recommend this air purifier and many of my friends have purchased this (seriously i should start selling them. people LOVE them as gifts too.) and they all love it so much. If you have a larger space they make a larger one too. My friend bought that and put it in her bead shop she owns and she says the place always smells fresh. Seriously though don't hesitate to get one.

Aprilaire 4040 - Humidifier 24V Water Solenoid Valve

The purchase experience was good. It took about a week to get the part and it appears that most of that time it was in transit. This is long but not a big issue.

There was no documentation that indicated that the valve had an input and output (i.e. flow direction). There also wasn't any indication that the valve can be mounted in either a left or right orientation. As it turns out, there is an arrow on the valve that indicates flow. Additionally, there is a screw on the side of the valve that allows it to rotate allowing either left or right mount.

In the end, this is a good product with nice features and better documentation would make this an EXCELLENT product overall.

Shop Fox W1746 Fine Air Filter

I usually use this either during fine sanding, or using the time-delay feature to leave it running after I leave the shop. Either way it does reduce the amount of "fines" left around the shop

I've had it a year, and with saw-dust, it appears all I need to do is blow the filter out. If I was getting gritty/greasy/oily fines in it I suspect I would have to change filters

Sharp FP-P30U Plasmacluster? Air Purifier

My review is on three thingspower use, audibility, and the ionizing feature.

Measurements of power consumption:

Quiet mode: 3 watts

Medium: 8 watts

High: 16 watts

Based on this I'd say the device deserves its energy star rating.

Noise:

The quiet mode is almost imperceptible in a room with some other background noise (traffic, wind), the medium level is far quieter than the low speed mode of some cheaper filters (Holmes,Honeywell) that I've used. The high mode is similar in noise level to a medium setting on a cheap filter, perhaps a little quieter.

The quality of the noise is very uniform. I only hear some variation in sound on the quiet mode, the fan seems to rub against something on every cycle. This will likely go away with use.

The ionizer makes a steady on-off very high pitched (probably not audible to older ears) noise sometimes and very little at others. This may have to do with humidity. It can be turned off.

Ionizer/Plasma Cluster:

Running this in an empty room for a few minutes and entering the room I notice a very big difference. The air feels very close to the "after a storm" feeling. Their web site explains how this technology works if you want the details, but it definitely alters the "feel" of the air in the room in a significant way.

Misc:

The blue light on the front is way too bright, as with most appliances these days. I guess you can put a sticker on it or color it with a black permanent marker to dampen that down. That's my only dislike so far.

Its design is such that you might assume you could mount this on a wall. Not so. It is for floor use only as far as I can tell.

Oreck Air Purifier 3-in-1 Odor Absorber Filter

The cataloge is inaccurate for this filter. It was recommended as a replacement in the XL model. It would not fit this unit. It would appear that Oreck is at fault here with the wrong part numbers. Do not buy this with expectations of it working in an XL Oreck.

Fellowes HF-230 True HEPA Filter

It works great! I was in the midst of my worst allergy season in years and within hours of setting these up everything cleared up.

It was simple to set up. Though be sure that when you try to take the front panel off to remove the packaging from the filters and install them that you aren't trying to pull on the silver insert that is part of the front panel. The filters are easy to install, and then just plug in and push the on button.

The automatic setting works wonderfully. It detects when a higher-level fan is necessary and backs back down as needed. The low setting, at which it mainly runs, is whisper quiet. Even high is quiet. I've got one beside my bed and never hear it during the night.

I'm also happy that maintenance is so easy. The sensors will tell me when one of the filters needs replacing. Once a month, I vacuum the front sensor (remove that front panel again) and I keep it wiped down, but there is no pesky, fiddly bits to try to keep clean.

I'm loving the fresh air in my house. Now if I could only do something about the outside air. . .

Honeywell Replacement Filter

This is a filter for a humidifer. Not sure what I can say that will sway anyone except to say that it fits our humidifier well, and the humdifier works well when it is installed.

FilterStream H-100 DirtTamer Hand-Held Vacuum HEPA Filter

The H-100 DirtTamer is as advertised. Living alone in a small, one bedroom, carpetless apartment, I find it lightweight, convenient to use and powerful enough to handle my vacuuming needs without the bulk of a full sized machine. The filtering system seems to work well because there is a noticeable reduction in dust build-up since I began using it. The price is quite reasonable, and for light cleaning, I would recommend it to anyone.

Allanson International Inc UVA36WB Swordfish Whole Home Air Purifier

We have used the Swordfish Ultraviolet Air Purifier in our home for about 5 years now. It works great. We very rarely get colds now. Our house is a converted cottage from the 70's with a crawl space underneath so base air quality is dubious. The Shark Ultraviolet Air Purifier sterilizes all the air that goes through our furnace air duct system using Ultraviolet Light. Ultraviolet Light kills micro organisms and disrupts the DNA and RNA (genetic code) of micro organisms so they don't reproduce before they die. The system works the same as Ultraviolet sterilizers for water but it is set up to sterilize air. The Ultraviolet light kills the germs, microbes and viruses that pass through the ultraviolet light it emits. I set mine up so it "lights up" both our furnace air filter and our humidifier both of which are breeding grounds for bacteria. I still clean and replace them just as often but I know that bacteria is much less likely to grow in between maintenance with the Ultraviolet killing the microbes it can reach in between.

Installation took about 1/2 hour and I was easily able to do it myself. I am a handy person but this installation was very basic. Just a drill and a screw driver. You have to drill an an approximately 2" hole in your duct work for the installation. Al high quality metal hole saw is provided with the Swordfish air purifier. Planning where you will mount the Swordfish Air purifier is very important because the 2" hole you drill will always be there. Remember, measure 10 times, drill once. The Swordfish Air Purifier will also need to be plugged into a regular 110/1115 Volt household outlet. It comes with a 6' cord. Plan for this as well.

This system is very safe as long as the light is completely enclosed in your furnace or air system duct work. Should not be installed where anyone could possibly see the Ultraviolet light as it can damage the eyes. Other than that this just kills germs and microbes, nothing else.

Warranty was also very good. Our stopped working after about a year and a half. Called up the company, they had me ship them the base mechanism and I had a new one about a week later. No questions and no cost to me.

to me this has been a very impressive product that has reduced illnesses in my family to just about none and it has given me the peace of mind of knowing the air quality in our house is much healthier than it would be without it.

Soiree bottle-top Wine Decanter & Aerator

The Soiree is an on-the-bottle wine aerator/decanter. It provides one-hand operation and aerates wine differently than competing products. Rather than passing the wine through a narrow chamber and injecting air into the wine, the Soiree achieves aeration by relying on the tendency liquids have to adhere to surfaceseffectively exposing much of the wine to air while pouring. In a 4-way blind tasting I conducted with 3 tasters of varying degrees of familiarity with wine, the Soiree finished first. Enjoy this video and let me know what you think with commentsI will check back and follow up.

Filtrete Hoover Self-Propelled Windtunnel Filter

I have two Hoover uprights with primary and final filters. I always use the Filtrete HEPA bags. After about a year of use, I noticed one vac would stop working after about 3 minutes, even with a clean bag. Turns out the primary and final HEPA filters were clogged. (this was a factory installed pleated final filter) I cleaned the primary and removed the final filter, and the vac worked fineeven had lots more suction!

In the mean time, I ordered these Filtrete final filters. I installed one, and found I lost a lot of suction, and I am concerned about overheating again. I am wondering if using a HEPA bag AND a HEPA final filter are just too much restriction for this machine?

Maybe this filter would be OK if I used just a regular paper bag? Yet, if the Filtrete HEPA bags do what they say they will do, then maybe I just don't need this final filter?

Puzzling, for sure. But I will give this 4 stars because it is a quality product and likely does what it is supposed to do (with a regular bag?)

HOLMES HAP240 Air Purifier

I have used this model for years. I have one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Reliable, quiet enough to use at night, and has never broken down. I have asthma, and it is a life saver when smoke and odors from cooking threaten my breathing. Small enough to take with me when I travel. It's useful for removing odors and dust from the air. I really depend on it. Reasonable price, and totally reliable. The filter is easy to change, (you can extend it's useable life by vacuuming it!) The prefilter just rinses out, and the case wipes clean easily. The only thing that I don't like is that there is no way to clean the fan blades inside.

Miele Type F/J/M AirClean FilterBags

I've already reviewed the Miele vacuum cleaner itself, along with the Turbo brush, so I'm a fan of the pricy-but-worth-it-if-you-can-afford-it sucker. If you're reading this, you're probably one too, so I'm not gonna talk about the vacuum cleaner on a net page selling the bags. I'm just going to relate information on the box about what Miele vacuums this goes with, on the theory that's the main question you have. It's not entertaining, but perhaps it's useful:

S241 S256 i

S290 S291

S300 i S399

S500 S578

S700 S758

S4000 S4999

The box comes with 5 bags (they;re strong, I've discovered), 1 dust compartment filter, and one "super air clean filter." Miele uses a HEPA filter, known for its allegy protection. Long-lasting, worth it.

Blueair 201SF Replacement VOC Smokestop Filter

While this filter is expensive, I can tell from using it so far that it will last the 6 months mentioned by the manufacturer. Also, the filter is large and well made with 2 lbs. of activated carbon, which is much more than many other filters I looked at. I tried the regular filter first and found that this one definitely provides extra 'oomph' and a better quality of air that I prefer.

RFF05502=RKE=2

This filter is half the price of the brand name filter 83353/83374 Sears Kenmore Air Cleaner Replacement Filter and it works just as good but without the unnecessary plastic filter border. Will not order the brand name filter anymore...this one works just as good for a whole lot less!

14x14x1 (13.5 x 13.5) Accumulair Emerald Filter

these filters are a hard to find size (never available at home depot, lowes, walmart, etc) and they do the job. I would probably by them again, they're pretty cheap.
