Alen Paralda - Dual Airflow Air Purifier Tower
The Paralda is long and slender yet compact it easily fit in our living room and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. It is very quiet and has varying speeds. It also had a UV lamp that zaps bacteria and anything the HEPA air filter doesn't get. I noticed the air seemed fresher and there was less dust on the furniture. It felt like the pristine air you usually find in the dentist office fresh, cleaner, very comfortable. The Paralda is not noisy at all compared to our Ionic Breeze air purifier we used to keep in my mother's bedroom. The control pad was very easy to figure out even my mother could manage it on her own.
We have had the Paralda for several weeks now and my mother seems to have more energy from sleeping better as a result of our cleaner air which makes the price, to me, completely worth it. I must also mention we run the Paralda all the time and we have seem no marked increase in our electric bill ... it is a Energy Star rated appliance and every little bit of savings helps us nowadays. I'd highly recommend this unit.

Sharper Image Ionic Breeze 3.0 Compact Silent Air Purifier
The manufacture made me return it AT MY OWN EXPENSE and then they sent me a new unit. Took 2 months.
Well, the new unit arrived 8 days ago. It died an hour ago. I called the customer service and refused to pay to send it back AGAIN.
They ARE sending me out a new unit (again), but it will take up to 10 business days to receive. They agreed to send a pre-paid shipping label this time too. (Could take a month though.)
Meanwhile, I have nothing. After reading the reviews below, I could have kicked myself. I subscribe to the online version of Consumer Reports so did what another did...looked it up. Consumer Reports says this Ionic Breeze only "removes a few particles from the air", nothing else. They also did the test, as the infomercial showed, of putting the Breeze in an enclosed space with smoke and turned it on. It did NOT do what the infomercial said. It did not "power through smoke". It did nothing.
I am taking the advice of Consumer Reports. I am refunding my money on the Breeze and purchasing "the high-scoring Friedrich C-90A and Whirlpool AP45030HO models" which DOES work...and work well.
Avoid the Ionic Breeze unit, for the home AND/OR the car.

Febreze Candle Apple Spice & Delight Air Freshener
Amazon since they don't make the candles. Guess I'm gonna have to switch to Glade candles and give them a try.

Hoover Air Purifier Replacement HEPA Filter
I saw this replacement filter on Amazon at a decent price so I picked it up and switched out my old filter. I was amazed that the next morning the air seemed fresher and cleaner. I really didn't think it was that bad and I didn't think changing the filter would make a huge difference, but it did. I will keep buying these from Amazon at the $24.99 price and replace my filter every 5-6 months. As it now is winter the house seems dusty and stuffy and this filter greatly helps. I also have a wood fireplace which kicks up some smoke/ash and the Hoover Air Purifier and Hepa filter work great.
The filter and the Hoover Air Purifier are highly recommended!

Strata Density Fiberglass Air Filter Size
I wish they were the accordian type--we usually buy the best filters available, but we will just change these more often. The price was great! 12 filters for less than 30 bucks. Who can beat that? And they came right to my dor. It makes me not want to ever go into another giant hardware store at all-who wants to drive, stand in line, be ignored, and then check yourself out at one of those awful "self-check" lines?
I ordered these from Amazon, got them delivered right to my doorstep in less than 7 days. Just perfect.

Ionic Pro CA200 ionic Air Purifier
Kinda' had to get a new one.
We started with the standard quadra due to moving into an apartment with 2 cats and a litter box. Dust, dander, cat food and our smoking habit led to the need to clean the air, and one unit kept a 1,200' apartment smelling, well it kept it from smelling.
When we moved into a house, added 2 more cats and 2 more litter boxes we also added another quadra, with the same resultno smell except when we got lazy and failed to clean the unit (it shuts off when too dirty), and then we became aware just how effective these things are.
INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE!!
When the other guys make claims that these do not move any air theough them, I can show that there is indeed an air flow created by the ionization occuring when a charge passes... nevermindjust put your hand in front of one and feel the actual breeze coming out of it. No moving parts mean there is very little wear and tear, and even less to wear outlike I said, my first one died after 11 years of constant use. Try that with a unit that has a fan assembly, an additional air filter for continued expense and maintenance, and the inherent noise that accompanies the whole deal... um no thanks.
Bottom linethese things work, and work well for a long, long time.
And yeah, they make great gifts for people with alergies, family members who you can never figure out what to get, and in-laws.

Hunter 30917 Replacement Filter
I got this to test the filter media to see if it can be used for a true HEPA application in an electronics room. We have tested this filter at 60 CFM using an APC plus particle counter and got the following readings (presented as counts in the 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, and 5.0 micron ranges). Numbers are accurate to within 10%.
Ambient air:
20565, 1125, 254, 0
Hunter-Filtered air:
2102, 51, 32, 0
Positive control (true HEPA filter we used a Whatman HEPA-CAP here to make sure the counter is accurate)
0, 0, 0, 0.
Thus, this filter is ~90% efficient which should be enough for the most folks to achieve an allergy relief, but also could be achieved by a variety of much cheaper electrostatic filters rated above MERV10 one can get at HomeDepot.
The federal HEPA standard is 99.97% particle removal at 0.3 microns and this filter is more than 2 orders of magnitude (factor of 100+) below this rating. The media appears to be polypropylene and has a surface area at least an order of magnitude smaller than a true HEPA filter which is not surprising.

Holmes HAP242-UC HEPA Type Desktop Air Purifier
* This machine works great as an air purifier for small/medium bedrooms. It is designed to remove dust and other allergens from the air, and it does so quite well in my opinion. It's not meant to clean the air in the whole house. It's not meant to remove strong odors like stinky pets, dirty diapers, etc. That's what an odor eliminator is for. (I use a Hamilton Beach 04271R TrueAir Plug-Mount Odor Eliminator next to the litter box, and I can't complain.) An odor eliminator contains a carbon filter than neutralizes bad smells. A HEPA air purifier contains a filter of thickly folded fibrous paper that strains tiny particles out of the air. The two devices have completely different purposes and methods.
* Yes, you do have to replace the filter periodically. I run my unit continuously on the low setting and have to replace the filter about once a year. Target usually sells them in two-packs or three-packs for a good price.
* It needs to be wiped down with a damp cloth every couple of weeks because the outer casing gathers dust and lint. In my experience it does NOT, as other users have commented, get filthy. I supposed it might if you never cleaned it. The fact that it attracts dust means it's working.
* It's almost silent on the low setting. Medium is audible but not intrusive. The high setting is almost as loud as a dust buster. I've found the low setting to be sufficient for small bedrooms.
I hope this helps.

Steamfast 1500-Watt Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner
Works ok? for lightly soiled areas and small/tight areas, i.e. cracks, joints, small cervices and small flat areas. If using for large areas or medium heavy to heavily soiled/dirty areas plan on spending a LOT OF TIME,(h o u r s), and EFFORT using this product, AND you might still need to use additional products, i.e. soap/chemicals and more EFFORT to achieve the cleanliness your trying to achieve.
