Compared to Honeywell 50250, this is quieter and energy efficient, 85 watt. The edges of this HEPa filter have a porous foam and are not compressed at contact surfaces like the 50250. So dirty air can leak past the edges.
The charcoal filter is extra. The amber light comes on after little over 4 months, meaning the HEPA filter needs to be replaced, ahead of the "up to" 12 months stated in the manual.
This is too noisy to sleep with even at the lowest of 4 fan speeds. This is made in Korea and comes with a remote and 2 warning lights for prefilter and hepa filter.
Weighing less than 18 pounds, it can be carried by the top handle. The black and white cord is defective and about 6 feet long. It gets twisted and coiled up like a double helix to about 1 foot long, took me about 2 hours to un-twist and uncoil it, once a month. Do not buy this if you plan to move it around at least 2 to 3 times a week.
Do not buy the filters from companies that are not authorized G.E. dealers. Most of the generic filters are lower quality. They use the words "HEPA-like" or "HEPA-type", instead of "true HEPA". There is a big difference between capturing 99.97% of particles 0.3 micron or larger and 90% of particles 1.0 micron or larger. The smaller particles are more damaging to your lungs because they accumulate in your air sacs or alveoli.
