I got the 27x14.5x5 version to replace a Trane Perfect Fit BAYFTFREXM2 filter. This one works just fine as a replacement. This filter has its own cardboard cage which doesn't fit inside the black plastic frame part of the original filter, so just set the frame aside and use this filter just as it is. It fits very close to perfectly and I couldn't detect any significant amount of air leakage around the edges once it was installed.No idea how the filtration or lifetime compares to the original yet.
