Air Conditioning Window Unit Light Duty Support Bracket

Do not get this if you live in NYC in an apartment or if you live in a brick house. The horizontal bar that extends outward and supports the AC will be too short for most brick apartments in NYC, especially pre-war standard NYC brick co-op apartments...don't even think about getting this if you have one of those super old extended ledge pre-war windows.

I ordered this for the Frigidaire 8,000 BTU Frigidaire--which is around 50 pounds.

Invest in the next one up which is longer and supports 10,000 BTU and up.

In the end, hot and annoyed, wanting to get the AC installation over with, I called a local PC Richard, received verbal confirmation they carried 2 types of brackets (under 10,000 BTU and over 10,000 BTU), physically went there, got the longer one, paid probably $20 more than Amazon but priceless in instant gratification, and got it over and done with.

We are very pleased with the vacuum and it has very good suction. We would have liked the on/off switch to have been on the back of the handle like we are used to and the hose is a little stiff but that is being picky. I can really tell the difference in how much cleaner my rugs look than from the panasonic I was using.

Instead of describing my frustration with the device I'll quote from the reset instructions from their manual:

"RESET PROCEDURE

NOTE: When the water tank is empty and the water in the Heating Chamber is almost empty, the Automatic Shut off will activate. The RESET Light will illuminate and the unit will not operate again until you refill the water tank and reset the humidifier.

1. Turn the power knob to RESET.

2. Unplug the unit.

3. Remove and refill the water tank, being sure to follow the Daily Maintenance Instructions. Replace the tank onto the base.

4. Wait 15 minutes for the Automatic Shut-Off to reset.

5. After the 15 minutes, plug in the unit and turn the Power Knob, to HIGH. The RESET light should now be off (if not repeat steps 1-5). In about 10 minutes, the humidifier will begin to produce moisture.

If the reset light is still on at this point, and the unit does not begin to produce moisture within a few minutes, then repeat steps 1-5."

Running the humidifier dry is a normal case (a full water container lasts for about 6 hours on the High setting).

The next day you are looking at 15 minutes to wait for the unit to reset. If you plug it in too soon the reset interval starts over. After 25 minutes you will know if the unit works as intended. If anything goes wrong, you are in for another 25 minutes.

The Daily Maintenance Instructions have you disassemble the entire unit, brush calcium deposits off the base, and wash the base in a dishwasher, before reassembling the unit.

You've got to be kidding me!

Vornado AQS 500 Air Quality System

I've had some pretty serious allergy problems since I was little. Up until about month ago they were driving me crazy. I was taking Clariton every morning and still suffering. I was desperate so I picked up the Vornado Air Purifier and the results were instant. When I wake up in the morning I no longer have a stuffy nose and my throat is no longer sore.

I stopped taking Clariton and while I do occasionally have an allergy attack it never happens inside the house.

I would recommend dusting your room first and keeping the windows shut.

This device does what it says for allergy sufferers and keeps a cool breeze throughout a medium sized room. Highly recommended.

This supplier is buying packages of 4 and selling each filter separately for nearly the price of 4.

The supplier is deceiving all that purchase these filters.

Beware. If they had negative stars, I would have used that rating.

Vornado AC300 Whole Room HEPA Air Purifier

This product really circulates great on high & med settings although it's pretty loud on those settings I guess that can't be helped due to the very powerful motor. I noticed a difference in the room in about 10 min. Low setting is far less noisy & didn't have a problem sleeping (unit is in a bedroom). Very easy to set up & maintain. I am very surprised at the power of this unit being so small! I purchased this product due to reviews & experience with Vornado. The room I use it in is actually larger then the recommended room size & it does the job well. I notice I wake up without the sinus drip in the morning & would recommend this unit for anyone needing to deal with sinus, allergies, or just wanting to eliminate smell from animals & a smoker. I have cats & the cat litter box is in a bathroom connected with this bedroom. This unit has eliminated any smells from it. This unit also aids circulation from any air conditioner allowing better cooling throughout the entire room. I was amazed by the amount of pet hair trapped in the filter! A 'proof' that it will help people with allergies esp. to pet dander & hair. For pet owners in particular, I would suggest a once a week filter check to clean out the pet hair to keep unit running more efficiently.

Now that it's mid spring & constantly in the 80's here, I am more convinced this unit is helping a LOT with A/C circulation to the point of using less electricity as the A/C compressor is turning on less frequently. I have a temperature gauge that is telling me the room is actually cooler then the A/C setting is on so have upped the A/C setting when running this unit. I'm running the Vornado nearly 24/7 now & have actually seen a decrease on my electric bill.
